Bishop Ajayi Crowther Scholarship Covenant Agreement

Preamble:

This Covenant Agreement (“Agreement”) is entered into between _____________________________ (“Recipient”) and the University on the Niger, represented by the Bishop Ajayi Crowther Scholarship Committee (“Committee”). The Recipient acknowledges and agrees to the terms and conditions set forth in this Agreement as a binding contract in consideration for receiving the Bishop Ajayi Crowther Scholarship (“Scholarship”).

Whereas:

  • The Bishop Ajayi Crowther Scholarship is established to provide financial assistance to deserving students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership qualities, and a commitment to service.
  • The Scholarship represents a commitment from the University on the Niger to invest in the future of its students by empowering them to achieve their academic and personal goals.

Now, therefore, the Recipient agrees to the following terms and conditions:

1. Commitment to Academic Excellence

1.1. The Recipient commits to maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of [specify the required CGPA] throughout the scholarship period.

1.2. The Recipient agrees to submit their academic performance records to the Scholarship Committee at the end of each academic semester for evaluation.

1.3. Failure to maintain the required CGPA may result in the suspension or termination of the Scholarship at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.

2. Leadership and Service

2.1. The Recipient agrees to embody and uphold the values of Bishop Ajayi Crowther by demonstrating leadership qualities within the University community and beyond.

2.2. The Recipient commits to actively participating in a minimum of 3 years service for the school after his/her program, as coordinated by the Scholarship Committee or other designated University bodies.

2.3. The Recipient agrees to mentor younger students and provide guidance to their peers as part of their leadership responsibilities.

3. Moral and Ethical Standards

3.1. The Recipient commits to upholding the highest standards of moral conduct, integrity, and ethical behavior in accordance with the values and teachings of Bishop Ajayi Crowther and the University on the Niger.

3.2. The Recipient will refrain from any behavior or activities that may tarnish the image of the University on the Niger, including but not limited to: academic dishonesty, misconduct, or any form of harassment or discrimination.

3.3. Any violation of the University’s moral or ethical guidelines may result in disciplinary action, including the revocation of the Scholarship.

4. Financial Responsibility

4.1. The Recipient acknowledges that the Scholarship will cover the following financial obligations (tuition, fees, accommodation, etc.) in accordance with the terms outlined in the Scholarship Award Letter.

4.2. The Recipient agrees not to seek additional financial support or scholarships from other sources without the prior approval of the Scholarship Committee, unless such sources are declared and do not conflict with the terms of this Scholarship.

4.3. If the Recipient withdraws from the University or fails to meet the conditions outlined in this Agreement, they may be required to repay any financial assistance received during the Scholarship period.

5. Use of Funds

5.1. The Scholarship is awarded for the sole purpose of supporting the Recipient’s educational and personal development while enrolled at the University on the Niger.

5.2. The Recipient agrees not to misuse or misappropriate Scholarship funds. Misuse of funds will result in immediate termination of the Scholarship and legal action if necessary.

6. Duration and Renewal

6.1. The Scholarship is granted for the duration of recipient’s program, contingent upon the Recipient’s compliance with all the terms of this Covenant.

6.2. The renewal of the Scholarship for subsequent years will depend on the Recipient’s academic performance, leadership contributions, and adherence to the moral standards of the University.

6.3. The Scholarship Committee reserves the right to review and amend the conditions of this Agreement at any time, with prior notice to the Recipient.

7. Termination of the Scholarship

7.1. The Scholarship may be terminated for any of the following reasons:

  • Failure to maintain the required academic standards.
  • Violation of the University’s code of conduct or the ethical standards outlined in this Agreement.
  • Withdrawal from the University or failure to continue as a full-time student.
  • Failure to fulfill the service or leadership obligations stipulated by the Scholarship.

7.2. Upon termination of the Scholarship, the Recipient may be required to reimburse any unused funds or benefits as determined by the Scholarship Committee.

8. Amendments

8.1. This Agreement may be amended or modified in writing, signed by both the Recipient and an authorized representative of the University on the Niger.


9. Acknowledgment and Acceptance

By signing below, the Recipient acknowledges that they have read and fully understood the terms and conditions of this Covenant Agreement. The Recipient agrees to comply with all the requirements and to uphold the values of Bishop Ajayi Crowther and the University on the Niger throughout their academic journey.
